This is a beautiful arrangement of the traditional Southern Harmony used in the LDS Hymnal as well as other Christian hymnals in the mid 1800’s. The melody is attributed to Anon. as a southern harmony from 1835. The original lyrics for the song and title of the song is from William W. Phelps, 1792 – 1872. The song was included in the first LDS Hymnbook in 1835.
There aren’t many piano arrangements available for this song so I put together an arrangement that would work for a musical number in church of the tune.
