Song Notes from Jason Tonioli: I don’t watch a lot of TV, but one of the few shows that I’ve watched this past year with my wife Stacy is the TV series “Poldark”. It takes place in England and is about a family who lived in Cornwall in the 18th Century. It is a fictional book/TV show patterned after many real people who lived in that time period. Cornwall sits on the southwest corner of Great Britain. In nearly every episode, the cliffs, ocean and waves are highlighted in different scenes, especially when the characters are dealing with a difficult decision or turmoil. One night while watching an episode, this is the song that came to me. It felt like it fit well as a soundtrack if I were asked to score a scene from a show from the late 1700s.
I think there are lots of people who likely have a tune pop into their head, but far too many of us don’t take the time to write down the ideas we have in the moment and explore where the music or idea might take us.
