Side Notes: This song, just like life, goes through stages that repeat and feel familiar, but are different. I wrote this during a time of transition when my oldest was unable to join us on a family vacation because he had to work. While I’m grateful to see him progress and be successful in his next stage of life, there is still a bit of sadness and sense of loss now that he’s moving on. I hope this song reminds you to cherish the time you have at each stage of your life, both the good and the bad, and also appreciate the blessings and positive things that come with each stage of life that those around us might be going through themselves.
