This book began with a simple observation: too many gifted musicians struggle to get their music heard. As someone who has spent decades building an independent music career, I wanted to create a platform to spotlight talented, lesser-known artists whose hymn arrangements deserve a wider audience.
Nearly 40 years ago, I sat on a piano bench for my first lesson—not knowing it would shape the rest of my life. Growing up in a small Idaho town, I never imagined a career in music was even possible. Then the internet changed everything, and somehow, sharing my piano music with millions of people around the world became my reality.
It all started with my mother’s simple goal: to help her son learn to accompany hymns in church. Alongside classical pieces, I was assigned a hymn each week. Those melodies and chord progressions became just as familiar to me as Mozart and Beethoven—and unknowingly taught me the musical language that would later shape everything I’d write.
Over the past two decades, I’ve published multiple piano books, released hundreds of recordings, and learned to navigate the music world as an independent artist. This journey taught me the value of staying in control of your work while finding creative ways to connect with audiences. It also showed me how challenging it can be for talented musicians to break through the noise.
That’s why I reached out on social media and invited composers to submit their best hymn arrangements for a no-risk collaboration. No loss of rights, no publishing contracts, no expenses—just a chance to be heard and discovered. The response was overwhelming—nearly 50 submissions came in within a week.
This collection features some of my favorites. Inside you’ll find a variety of styles, techniques, and interpretations. Some pieces will become new favorites, others will challenge you in exciting new ways, and all of them represent the incredible talent that exists in our musical community. My hope is that you’ll discover new piano artists to follow and enjoy for years to come.
Each piece includes a QR code linking to a video or recording of the artist playing their own arrangement. I encourage you to scan, listen, and learn from how they bring their music to life. It will transform your experience with each piece.
