Side Notes: Side Notes: I’ve always loved this song because of the simplicity of it, but it reminds me of when my mother would sing songs to us before we went to sleep. I would sing to my kids when they were going to sleep as well. What I like most about these lyrics is that it starts out with the child asking the mother to tell them about heaven, and in the response from the mother, you hear a loving and simple answer.
Oftentimes I think we make things much more complicated than they need to be. I believe when we pass onto the next stage of life, things will make sense and we will have a realization that in most cases things are quite simple. This song reminds me of the importance of being humble and teachable, while trusting like a child. When we do, God often takes us by the hand and answers our prayers in ways we never expected.
