Side Notes: This arrangement is a bit different than your typical national anthem. I wrote this arrangement the night American B2 bombers dropped bombs on Iran. The feeling of this arrangement is beautiful, but a bit haunting. My 3rd grade daughter was in tears when she heard that we might be at war. As it came together at the piano, I tried to capture the feelings I was having as a parent, knowing that it was very possible that there were many things that were unknown at that moment. I think this arrangement captures the feeling that many people are having, no matter what your political views are. What I do know is that we are all a big family on this planet and while we don’t and won’t always agree on things, we hopefully can agree to find ways to live peacefully together and get along with one another.
