I’ve been working on an arrangement of this tune for over a year. I love the story of the composer Will Thompson who was born in 1847. He originally tried to sell his songs to a publisher and was told they weren’t interested. So, he decided to start his own publishing company and grew that into a business selling pianos, organs and sheet music. This tune can be found in many Christian Hymn books and has been performed by many artists over the years. The hymn book versions I have found for this song are typically written in either 4 flats (A Major) or 1 Sharp (G Major). I’ve tried both keys and haven’t decided which one I like best.
