Side Notes: This song is a type of lullaby with both a child and a parent. One of the unique things I’ve loved with Janice Kapp Perry tunes is that there is often a duet between children and an adult role model. This song’s lyrics start as a conversation between a child and God in such an innocent way. The second verse is the response from the parent or adult that reassures the child that God does answer prayers and cares about each one of his children. On the third verse of this song, I decided to make the arrangement so if someone were singing to this, they could sing the duet part together.
If you aren’t familiar with this tune, there was a powerful and beautiful video produced by my friend Masa Fukuda and the One Voice Children’s Choir that was featured in the movie “The Cokeville Miracle”. This video features scenes of his choir as well as scenes from the movie. If you aren’t familiar with the true story of the Cokeville Miracle, it is a movie about the true story of 136 children, 18 teachers, 2 terrorists and 1 bomb. It thankfully has a happy ending and will shows how a community came together and how children were miraculously protected.
