Side Notes from Monica: As a child, I grew up listening to my grandma play “Where is Heaven?” on the piano. This song will forever remind me of her, and now that she has passed away, it holds a greater meaning to me. My favorite lyric of this song is the tender childlike question, “Where is heaven, is it very far? I would like to know if it’s beyond the brightest star.” As we reflect on the message of this song and think of our loved ones who have passed on, it helps me feel they truly are not so far. They’re always with us, even though they are in heaven. I love the ending lyrics of the song that says “when we’re with the ones we love, it’s right where we are.” These words help me remember that heaven also can be here on earth with our loved ones. Janice Kapp Perry has touched so many lives with her beautiful music and it was an honor to help arrange this special song.
