Side Notes: This song was written the night of my daughter’s final volleyball game during her senior season.
When your child reaches the age of 18, there are a lot of important decisions they begin to make on their own. At the same time, many things that have been part of their life for years start to come to an end and while you are excited for them, it is hard as a parent to realize things will be changing for you and for them.
Sports were an important part of her life and watching that chapter close brought a mix of emotions to the surface. As a parent, I found myself thinking back on the hundreds of practices and games we had been part of over the years. I hope you can hear some of that emotion in this piece.
