Side Notes: When the seasons change and the colors begin to turn, there’s a kind of quiet beauty that’s hard to ignore.
I’ve spent a lot of time walking trails in the fall, and one thing I’ve noticed is how leaves fall—almost always one at a time.
Sometimes it’s triggered by a small gust of wind, followed by that unmistakable sound of dry leaves moving together in the breeze. It’s a sound and feeling that’s difficult to describe unless you’ve experienced it.
My goal was to capture the feeling of walking through those trees, the wind moving through the branches, the light filtering through the leaves, and the stillness that comes with it.
The individual notes represent a single leaf falling. Even though there are thousands around you, you tend to notice them one at a time. As you play, I hope this gives you a picture and helps you feel what it’s like to be there.
