About this Song:
Side Notes: The first few pages include the first song I ever wrote down on paper. I turned in a handwritten copy of this for my school reflections contest in Jr. High and won enough money to encourage me to keep writing music. If your school doesn’t have a PTA Reflections contest, encourage them to start. It’s a national competition to encourage kids to explore the arts. I suppose I’m a success story for the Reflections Contest.
I never would have dreamed that 30 years later I would still be writing music and certainly would have never believed my simple song from a contest would end up in a book that would be shared with thousands of people. I’m adding this song in hopes of inspiring a few people to write down their song ideas and keep trying to write songs. The things we start today lead us to what we become and might be remembered for decades later.
Around measure 17 I started playing around with the melody and trying some different ideas. It is amazing how a song can go so many different directions. I hope you enjoy this new spin on the very first song I wrote.
