A few days into the Coronavirus quarantine, I sat down at the piano and decided to try and write an arrangement to this classic hymn. In about 2 hours, I had 90% of the song sketched out. While I was writing the notes out, I kept thinking that it needed more notes. However, as it started coming together and I played each measure, I realized how important the simplicity was. In a way, I think the entire Coronavirus has taught us that it’s most important to slow down and find joy in the simple things that we have all around us which we may have lost sight of in the “busy”ness of our lives. Hopefully, we took the time to come a bit closer to our families and to God during this time as well.
When we do return to normal life after the quarantine, maybe we will remember why we are all here and make sure we take time to step back and be amazed at what our Savior and Heavenly Father have done for us, and help others recognize this as well.
